We are ready to wrap up part 2, as they call it, “the B-Roll”.
Faith, Tim and Mary will be on location to finalize an episode of My Ghost Story for A&E Bio. We will post more pictures of the behind the scenes inside the Belleview Biltmore. I am hoping that during the filming we can catch paranormal events LIVE on film. I know the Belleview is the place for that to happen, it is up to the spirits if they decide to appear for television. For now enjoy this shot of the official chair you sit in while telling your story on the show. Even the chair looks spooky…
Hello,
I lived in the Hotel from January 1984 until the Spring, April and then repeated these same times every year until 1986.
As a Room Service Waiter and as a Waiter in the Tiffany Ball Room. The Biltmore was a fun and interesting place to work. I lived on the 4th floor, East side, facing the water and Condos. My first year working at the Biltmore, my room was in the old Dorm at the front of the parking lot. There were some characters that ran the dorm too.
There was Hank, who basically keep the dorm from getting too crazy. He could get you change for the Washers and Dryers, he sold candy, cigarettes and soda and was a really great guy. In the summer, Hank moved up to NH and worked at the Mount Washington Hotel in Bretton Woods. I’m from that part of NH and I would see him occasionally down in the Golf Club where he worked.
There was also an older couple who cleaned the Dorm and sometimes parts of the Hotel. The woman’s name was Angela and her husband’s name was Fred. They were an interesting couple in there mid 60’s who did live in the dorms but also had a home in Dunedin. My friends and I befriended Angela and on her birthday, we gave her a small party with hats and noise makers, I wish I still had the pictures, they were awesome….
About my second winter at the Hotel, Angela’s husband Fred died…..while going to the bathroom in one of the dorms many large shower/bathroom areas. I remember going to work in the morning and seeing his legs underneath one of the stalls as I passed on my way to work that day. When I returned after the lunch time function, I noticed that he was still in the bathroom stall but did’nt really think of it too much. It was later on that afternoon that Angela found Fred and realized that he had passed away.
As the days passed on and the service for Fred came and went, my friends and I kept an eye on Angela to make sure she was ok. She seemed to be doing ok as expected and continued on with her duties in the dorm and over in the Hotel.
It was at this time that I changed rooms and was given a room on the 4th floor. I never really experienced any kind of stange activity up there. I did see Angela roaming the halls late at night, cleaning the hallways and it was weird to be coming home from the beach at 1pm and hearing Angela yelling out Fred’s name and dragging a black garbage bag down the carpeted hallway….
I will say that the only spooky place I felt uncomfortable being in was the Mens bathroom down under the lobby. The place was huge and was all Granite. It was not really ever used that much because there where lobby Restrooms available and much closure for guests to use. Believe me, the place was huge and I’m sure there are lots of spirits roaming the halls. Im sure even Angela is still there, her and Fred trying to keep the place clean and hoping that their house does not get torn down.
I live in Boston now and went back to Florida in 2ooo for a vacation. My friends and I took a drive over to the Biltmore and had a walk around to see the old place. I was not impressed with what they had done to the place but we where able to go through most of the hotel, even up to the 4th floor to see my old room. I’d love to take that walk again…..
Sincerly, Peter Bresnahan
